Stuck on a Plateau? Learn how to break a plateau.

Break a plateau to achieve the fitness results you are working your butt off for.  A
plateau is defined as the body adapting to your fitness routine.  When this happens, you get little to no results.

Many of my consultations revolve around this question, “how do I break a plateau?”.  It happens very often you shouldn’t be surprised to know you are not alone.

The plateau curse

It is very irritating when you have been working out for a couple months getting good results only to get stuck in month 3.

Many people get discouraged when they are busting their butts working out and eating well without progress.  The scale may stay the same for weeks or months.  What’s even worse is when you compare to others, they are getting the results you want!

Now you may begin to ask “Why?  How come I’m not getting the results I want?”.

Don’t give up!

At this point, it may seem easier to run to the nearest comfort food or skip a workout.  This will undoubtedly cause you to gain weight (if you do this every night).

Going further into the plateau black hole, you’ll be tempted to quit because what is the point right?  The numbers aren’t changing on the scale and you are just so tired.

Changing your lifestyle doesn’t come free of time commitment or funds. I mean, you are doing about 45 -60 minutes per workout 3-4 times per day. Maybe even spending extra money on healthier foods, supplements, or some type of meal prep membership.

Understanding "why" before you break a plateau

Naturally, your body adapts to the amount of workload you put in. For example, running a mile for the very first time was very hard.  However, you continued and noticed you were getting results.

After weeks of running, you noticed it was getting easier but your progress started to slow down. This is because your body is adapting and no longer needing to work as hard as it did in the beginning.

How to fix this and break a plateau?

First, you need to switch the frequency of your workouts and time to keep getting the results you want.

Second, you need to establish weekly and monthly goals and have a clear vision of what you want to achieve in order to continue with the progress. These small goals and small visions will give you your end result of the bigger picture.

Third, change your eating habits as you are making progress. If you have increased in energy and have lost some fat, most likely you need more fuel in your body.
